PoweredUSB is a natural fit for peripherals connections in a point-of-sale environment. The ability to supply power as well as supply communication signals over a hot pluggable cable is what has been needed in this environment. In addition, the PoweredUSB solves the physical host side cable locking problem associated with the standard "A" type USB connector by providing a host cable locking mechanism.
